Safe environment PROGRAM (PREVENT AND PROTECT STL)

St. Roch Parish and School follow the Archdiocese of St. Louis's Safe Environment Program — Prevent and Protect STL — (formerly known as Protecting God’s Children). The program is designed to help protect the youth, elderly, and vulnerable adults of our parish and school as they participate in activities within our community.

To ensure the safety and well-being of our community, all volunteers, educators, coaches and others involved at St. Roch must become safe environment users. To do this, one must complete a Protecting God’s Children Workshop, complete the online Mandated Reporter training, Code of Ethical Conduct training, and sign the Code of Ethical Conduct. In addition, each individual must enter information for a background check.

To begin the above process, individuals must register below.

All who minister, work or volunteer in the parishes, schools, or other institutions, offices or agencies of the Catholic Church must at all times uphold Gospel values in their personal and professional conduct.

The intent of the Code of Ethical Conduct is to provide a set of normative standards of conduct for all clergy, employees, and volunteers engaged in ministerial and other Church related situations in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. While this Code is not exhaustive in the variety of situations specifically mentioned, it is to be understood that the standards set out herein are to be considered normative for every pastoral or other Church related setting.

Any member of the clergy, employee or volunteer who violates the Code of Ethical Conduct will be subject to appropriate remedial action by the competent authority in each case.

Through the efforts of the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Office and the Office of Child and Youth Protection, we remain committed to the prevention of sexual abuse of minors in the Church, to the promotion of safety for children and young people, and to the ongoing care of those who have suffered sexual abuse.

It is the policy of the Archdiocese of St. Louis that all clergy, employees and volunteers who serve in the Church brings them into contact with children must have a regular background check conducted.
